A Form Four student of CEFES Evening School Kumba, Cletus Mbah, has been strangled by suspected bandits February 24. The Post learnt that Mbah, who is also a motorcycle rider, had just finished his last class at about 9:10 pm that day and decided to ply the road with his motorcycle. It is suspected that the bandits, who pretended to be passengers, hired the student to transport them to a certain spot around Kossala, Kumba Town.

The bandits reportedly overpowered the deceased, strangled him and disappeared with his motorcycle. The suspects then dumped the deceased’s corpse besides a stream in the same neighbourhood. When the corpse was discovered, about eight exercise books and a Bible laid beside it. Mbah’s corpse was discovered early that morning by a passer-by who immediately raised alarm.

A post-mortem conducted on the deceased confirmed that Mbah died of strangulation.
According to one Samuel Ojong, a rider, Mbah was a poor student who decided to ride motorcycle during the day and attend classes in the evening to pay his school fees.
He said the deceased struggled and bought the motorcycle in December 2008 and began plying the road in January 2009.
