By Willibroad B. Nformi

Ahead of celebrations marking Cameroon’s 39th National Day and 50th anniversary of reunification, preparations are in high gear in Kumbo and other parts of Bui Division to give the celebrations the pomp and fanfare worthy of the event, come May 20. A series of preparatory meetings have been held with over 10 committees created to ensure adequate preparation.

Bui SDO, Bernard Ndode Mesape Ngone, said like last year, this year’s National Day celebrations will be under the broad spectrum of Cameroon’s independence and reunification, events that took place some fifty years ago.

At a final preparatory meeting on Thursday, May 12, it was resolved that radio talk shows and roundtable conferences will be held on the theme: "Dialogue and Mutual Understanding: Foundations of Cameroon’s Achievements In 50 Years of Reunification".

It was also agreed that there will be a unity walk from all the 10 corners of Kumbo Town to end with an ecumenical service at the Tobin Municipal Stadium. Inter-Service competitions, a cultural jamboree and a gala night have equally been programmed.
