Cameroon To Host World Congress Of Business Women

The 57th Congress of World Enterprises headed by Women will hold in Cameroon. The occasion will take place at the Yaounde Conference Centre from the 23 to 30 October, 2009. The declaration was made in a press conference on July 16 at the Ministry of Trade in Yaounde.

Highlighting the importance of the Congress of World Enterprises headed by Women better known in its French acronym as FCEM, the National President of Cameroon’s Business Women who doubles as the President of FCEM, Mrs. Francoise Foning, said the objective is to seek national and international media to largely diffuse the up coming big trade fair in order to enhance Cameroon’s image.

The October trade fair dubbed "FCEM in face with the international financial crisis," focuses on the challenges of FCEM with the global economic crisis. The purpose is to bring together members of FCEM, analyse the statutory organs of the association, present activities reports of the world bureau and national bureaus, encourage foreign investment as well as lobby with states and financial partners.

Foning said the fair is opened to all business women in Cameroon. She stated that the trade fair would be an opportunity for women to project themselves in business. She hinted that those who have projects but lack funds to implement the projects would be provided with funds whereas those who have the funds and are unable to design projects would be provided with projects. The benefits of the fair cannot be underestimated, she underlined.

About 1000 people are expected to attend the trade fair. They would include; women from all over the world who head enterprises and their partners, international finance experts, representatives of the World Bank, IMF and other UN development agencies, the Cameroon government as well as Cameroon women and their development partners.

FCEM is an intercontinental network established in many countries in Africa, America, Europe and Asia. Activities to mark the event will include; thematic debates, meetings of the statutory organs of FCEM, partners’ trade fair, sales exhibition, business launches and dinners, speeches from members of Cameroon government, visits, tourism businesses, cultural activities, animation and gala evening.

The event will be organised by the Group of Cameroon Business women, which constitute more than 500 women. This group was created in 1985 to facilitate business exchange. Present in the conference were the Minister of Trade who is the President of the ad hoc committee for the organisation of the event, the Minister of Communication and the Minister of Women Promotion and the Family.
