Mr. Arreymbi’s lecture entitled: “Is the use of Cloud Computing for Disaster Recovery an exercise in technological efficiency and cost reduction, rather than a business imperative for risk management?” was aimed at drawing attention to the many issues surrounding cloud computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers as a utility through the internet. Cloud Computing is seen by many in the world of business as the ultimate vehicle for disaster recovery.

The invitation-only talk, organised by the internationally-acclaimed Forum was sponsored by many big IT corporations, including IBM, Oracle and BAE systems, and was attended by over three hundred top IT professionals from across the world.

The expert who hails from Cameroon, and who was also chosen to take part in a panel alongside four other world experts on Cloud computing, said: “It was great to have been given the opportunity to speak at such a prestigious event, especially with the issue of Cloud Computing being one that is at the forefront of many IT companies’ IT strategies. The Corporate IT Forum chairman saw this as an opportunity to interact with academia for very high level input, which will go a long way to benefit both the corporate world and academic research.”
