Fr. Joseph Bomsa Celebrates Silver Jubilee

By Guilio Ngoran*

Rev. Father Joseph Bomsa Ndi of the Bambui Major Seminary, Northwest Region, Saturday, August 29, celebrated 25 years of priesthood. The celebration took place at the Sacred Heart Parish, Fiango, Kumba. The Bishop of Buea, His Lordship Immanuel Bushu, drew inspiration from the book of Mark for his homily.

He advised Christians to emulate John the Baptist, describing him as a preacher and a true servant of God. On behalf of the Kumba Deanery, the Parish Pastoral Council President, Martin Mekuru, lauded Fr. Bomsa for the headway Christians have made under his guidance as priest.

He said Christians should, inspired by Fr. Bomsa’s achievements, stand as beacons of light for others to follow. Fr. Bomsa paid special tribute to all those who have assisted him in his ministry, especially his parents. Christian Cardinal Tumi and the Apostolic Administrator in Cameroon, Mgr Pierre Vital, were present at the mass. Christians from the Buea Diocese and Kumba Deanery were also in attendance.

Fr. Bomsa was born in 1952. He pursued his primary education in Nkambe, and was baptised in 1963. He attended Bishop Rogan College, Buea. He was ordained priest on April 29, 1984. He served his first appointment in Sacred Heart Parish, Fiango, Kumba. He also worked in Ikasa, Bota, Nyandong, and was posted to Bishop Rogan College as a teacher. Bomsa later travelled to Rome to study Spiritual Theology. Presently, he teaches at the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Bambui, North West Region.
