GP-DERUDEP Roads, Agric Infrastructure Projects Launched

By Peter Adi Fonte

The Grassfield Participatory and Decentralised Rural Development Project, GP – DERUDEP, recently launched roads and agricultural infrastructure projects in Kumbo. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Mayor of Kumbo Council, Fai Paul Sunjo, said he hoped that the projects would be executed to meet the aspirations of the population.

The Project Coordinator, Gregory Muluh, declared that the beneficiaries are the first supervisors of the projects. Muluh, however, refuted allegations that GP – DERUDEP is working in partnership with an NGO known as CAMIFOCOS. He distanced DERUDEP from the said NGO, saying that the outfit has not mandated the said NGO to carry out any project in the field on its behalf.

Meanwhile, the First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Bui, Innocent Moni Nanje, who presided over the occasion, lauded government’s efforts towards reducing poverty in the Northwest Region. He also expressed thanks to the African Development Bank for financing GP – DERUDEP.

He implored the local population to support the contractors and ensure the protection of their personnel and equipment. Nanje cited other projects being executed in the Division to include the rehabilitation of roads in the area and the building of seven market sheds.

Nanje also expressed gratitude to the project coordinator of GP – DERUDEP and his team for their developmental works in the Division. He assured the control mission that the administration will give them full support for the objective and scrupulous follow-up of the contractors.
