Mandela Like Malcom X, Luther King, Obama

By Franklin Sone Bayen

CameroonPostline.com — Nelson Mandela lived the life of three persons.  Stages of his life epitomised the lives of the three icons in African-American history. He was a violent revolutionary, a peaceful advocate for change and a politician in elective office.

At one time he was like Malcolm X, a non-nonsense radical who resorted to violent means through ANC’S military wing Umkhonto we Sizwe, to achieve freedom for South African blacks from apartheid. At another time he was like Martin Luther King Jr. an apostle of peaceful change by mere criticism, civil disobedience and moral persuasion.

Finally, he was, like Barrack Obama, a soapbox politician who, through popular vote, became the first Black President in a system hitherto dominated by Whites.
