PCC Moderator Warns Pastors Not To Bully Christians

By Chris Mbunwe

CameroonPostline.com — The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, Rt. Reverend Festus Ambe Asana, has cautioned Pastors against bullying their Christians. He made the statement in Bamenda recently while inducting Rev. Amos Talikong Nfor as Mezam Presbytery Secretary and Parish Pastor of PC Ntamulung.

Rev. Talikong takes over from late Rev. Zephenia Kenji, who was murdered by bandits more than a year ago. While commissioning Rev. Talikong, the Moderator prescribed humility, prayers, patience and diligence in the discharge of his pastoral duties as the head of the Ntamulung congregation, which is one of the biggest in the Northwest Region.

The Moderator added that Pastors must stand tall, be firm, and avoid hating Christians. “Instead, gather the flock and together with your Christians, as well as colleague pastors, be each other’s keeper. Remember, pride has no place in God’s ministry. I personally hate pastors who bully Christians,” Asana noted.

Asana praised Talikong, whom he described as disciplined, intelligent and critical pastor. “I will not hesitate to state here that this is a true man of God regardless of his age. I am convinced that he will carry on the crusade of transparency, accountability and anti-corruption far and wide. His appointment was a surprise to him, unlike others who lobby to be appointed,” the Moderator remarked.

Asana, however, said he will not allow any PCC Pastor to transform the Church into a ministry of miracles and incantations. On his part, Rev. Talikong assured Christians that with their support, they will take PCC Ntamulung to a higher level. “I am prepared to dispense my services with an open mind so that we can make good of my 18 years experience in serving the Lord,” he said.

Welcoming Rev. Talikong, the Chairman of PCC Ntamulung, Prof. Mathew Gwanforbe, thanked the Moderator for giving them a fully qualified Presbytery Secretary, noting that Talikong will stand the challenges of the time. The new Presbytery Secretary for Mezam hails from Ntundip village in Ndu Subdivision of Donga Mantung Division, Northwest Region. He is married, with children.
