Poem : L

By Mathew Takwi — Astute and steadfast to ideas of forward flight
A metal pole to another welded in firm bind
For masses’ mass, you roared even in sleep
Your peccadillo may awhile stand,
For your neck on guillotine fearlessly laid
In ceaseless sneeze for fair share to emerge
While enmeshed croaking amphibians and likes shivered
For not dropping water on desert tongues of your brothers

Enfant chéri des descendants du Shakespeare
In continent’s triangular fragile frame,
If only for the nouveau né ENSET* Bambili,
May the wipe of the on High on you be gentle
And His ruling be a millimetre snow-white cotton
So your spiritual wings may freely flap afloat
And kapok voices of angelic chorus
Gently reverberate your Knighting

See how teachers and their pedigrees
Nod with incessant weeping smiles,
Yearning for fleet-minded fearless fitting heir
Molded in rare gem wrapped on ocean bed
For your tongue Simon, never was in cheek;
So society could amass and glee than self:
Adieu infatigable vaillant combattant engagé
My hat slowly steps off my head for your soul,
And you breathing: the chancy challenge continues
