CameroonPostline.com — The sixth provincial seminar on the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary took place in the St. Augustine’s College, Kumbo, from the July 19 to 22.

The provincial seminar which brought together 375 participants drawn from the Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, from the Dioceses of Yaounde, Douala, Bafoussam, Bamenda, Buea and Kumbo, started with a Holy Mass in the St. Augustine’s College Chapel Nso, with His Lordship Bishop Francis Teke Lysinge, as the chief celebrant, assisted by Rev. Fathers Sebastian Fonsah and Basil Fouomene.

Bishop Lysinge, in his homily, told the devotees to take the resolution to surrender themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, while asking them to bring all their problems to Jesus for solutions.

Opening the seminar on behalf of the Bishop of Kumbo Diocese, George Nkuo, Bishop Lysinge of Mamfe Diocese, who doubles as the spiritual Director of the Association of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary in he Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda, appealed to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary devotees to teach all nations to belong to the association and to promote and bring honour to it.

The host President of Kumbo Diocese, Brother Marcel Foka, in his speech, said this year the Kumbo Diocese will be celebrating 100 years of Catholic faith in Kumbo brought by the Sacred Heart missionaries. He said in that respect the Boyong hill in Ndu Parish has been devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Foka said the Sacred Heart prayer group, being the umbrella of all the prayer groups in the Catholic Church, should remain the torchbearer of the Church.

The interim Provincial President of the Association, Brother Clement Ngwa, said the seminar held under the theme “Heart of Jesus, full of goodness and love.” He said the objective is to live good lives and show unconditional love to one another, be true and sincere devotees and to be humble so as to gain the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.

He proposed the holding of the congress of the dioceses in 2013 to designate delegates for provincial congress and that provincial congress be held in 2014 to designate delegates for national congress to be held in 2015. Ngwa implored participants to open their hearts and store in them all that is being taught.

A provincial executive bureau was elected during the seminar with Brother Ngwa as President and Brother Robert Fangwi as Vice President; Sister Lainjo Cresencia as Provincial Secretary and Brother Njobam Eric as Vice Secretary; Brother Joseph Oru and Brother Ekole Lucas as provincial Financial Secretary and Vice Secretary; Sister Margaret Ndzelen and Brother Martin Mbe as Promoter and Vice Promoter; Sister Lucy Jakai as Link Person and Brother Professor Boniface Nasah and Sister Paolo Foinmbam as Advisers.

The seminar ended with a Holy Mass said in the Kumbo Cathedral Church by Bishop Nkuo as the chief celebrant. He was assisted by Bishop Lysinge and Rev. Fathers. In his homily, Bishop Nkuo said a membership of the association of Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary is a call for holiness and devotedness. He told the devotees to be devoted the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Speaking in an interview, Bishop Lysinge said his special message to the Christians is to let more people join the association and listen to the teachings. The newly elected President said he is bent on seeing to it that the devotion to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary extends to the length and breadth of Cameroon.
