Prophet Divine Incarcerated For Sexually Harassing Followers

Buea based self- proclaimed prophet, popularly known as Prophet Divine C. Okafor, was arrested by the Judicial Police on Monday, February 15, for purported sexual harassment and extortion of money from some female followers of his newly found church, Life Transformers Ministry, LTM, in Muea.

He was also accused of operating illegally, without the necessary documents and permission from the Cameroon Government that allows churches to operate.

A report against the Prophet Divine’s purported sexual harassment of female members of his church is said to have been brought to the police and the National Human Rights Commission by young women, who went to seek redemption and pray for employment doors to open in a turbulent economic times and hardship, but were subjected to harassment.

Following the prophets arrest, some members of Life Transformers Ministries stormed the police, demanding the immediate release of their ‘prophet’, or be detained together with him, but they were soon dispersed by the police and their leader kept in custody.
The young women who lodged the reports against the church leader are eight in number and between the ages of 18 and 27.

Speaking on CRTV, Mathias Njome Ekeke, a senior official at the Regional Office of Human Rights Commission, confirmed that eight downcast girls reported cases of extortion of funds and sexual harassment by the ‘man of God’ who is said to have taken advantage of their state of mind.

Divine C. Okafor’s lawyers have been making efforts to have him released on bail, but have faced stiff resistance from the National Human Rights Commission who are bent on seeing to it that the case reaches the court for justice be done.
The ‘prophet’ is said to have asserted that the new developments are just a test of faith.
