PSS Nkwen Inaugurated

By Chris Mbunwe

Presbyterian Secondary School, PSS Nkwen, created some eight years ago, was inaugurated recently by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Nyansako-ni-Nku.

Rev. Nyansako-ni-Nku said he was impressed with the growth of the institution, which he said represents one of the best colleges in the Northwest Region. He hailed the pioneer and present Principals, David Tonsong and Mrs. Christina Che, respectively, for lifting the institution to great heights.

The PCC Chief Shepherd used the occasion to encourage Christian education, insisting that it is based on Divine values. The PSS Nkwen Principal, on her part, said the young college has recorded a number of successes in the areas of academics and regional as well as national competitions.

She, however, talked of insecurity, the absence of potable water and lack of access roads as some of the problems faced by the school. She appealed to the authorities of the municipality to come to their aid.

Mrs. Che, nonetheless, announced the imminent construction of an administrative block, a conference room and library, an information and communication technology centre, a chapel and fence for the school. Over the years, results of PSS Nkwen both at GCE Advanced and Ordinary Levels have been outstanding ranging from 90 to 100 percent. The school has a student enrolment of 1046, with a staff strength of 67.
